I was not aware that the BC government was planning to cut library funding until I received this email in my inbox. Please sign the online petition.
The provincial government is considering cutting their contribution towards public libraries in BC. We get the money from local municipalities, but 10% of the total budget of FVRL comes from the Province of BC, an integral part of what we need to deliver
library services in communities large and small. Libraries give taxpayers a huge “bang for their buck”, they deliver a wide variety of services in all communities, many that mean freedom of access to information, and many programs that are centred around literacy. Please read the public area of the website, and consider signing an online petition to protect the services coming from your local library, that make your community a better place to live for all of us and forward this to those in your email address book.
