It’s a great feeling when somebody reads one of my books and totally connects with both the message and the story. This kind of feedback makes me want to spend the whole day on my next book!
“Darkness Between the Stars” a very powerful and emotional story.
This book should be read by every parent and teen. This is a story that shows how teenagers can have much stress and pressure to succeed which could lead to depression and thoughts of suicide when life becomes to overwhelming. Parents should not ignore signs and strange behavior and try to seek help before their child gets totally out of control. This book would be great for a must read book in high school. DIscussions should be held regarding how to get help for depression and also how suicide effects entire families for the rest of their lives. I myself have learned a lot from reading this and hope many others will read it too. This can possible save lives. I received the book through Goodreads First Reads giveaway.
Something I have been meaning to do for a long time and am finally getting around to! Swedish photographer, Andreas Stridsberg is responsible for the cover of my last book, the darkness between the stars.
As you can see from image below, the cover is eye-catching, whimsical and stunning:

The bookjacket is the first thing a potential reader notices, and if they are drawn to the image, they are very likely to want to see what lies between the covers, so a brilliant cover image like this one is invaluable. This is my favourite cover image to date and from the feedback I’ve had from both booksellers and readers, it’s a hit!
Thank you Andreas!
Well, it’s almost time! I am so excited about my next book and in love with the cover! For a sneak peak of The Darkness Between the Stars, visit the McKellar and Martin website.
It’s already listed on Chapters/Indigo and on amazon, but the cover is an older version.
For the most part, a writer’s life is a solitary endeavour – family and friends ensure that we have love, conversations and connections – thank goodness for them, or we’d be a bit hermit like!
In every writer’s life, there are five amazing highs:
1. When an idea formalizes in your mind and the words begin to flow
2. When you’ve finished your manuscript
3. When a publishing house accepts it
4. When the galleys arrive in your inbox
5. When you hold the actual book in your hand
Yesterday, I realized number four: the galleys for my next book arrived, complete with cover. It’s a wonderful feeling, a bit scary, because this is your very last chance to make changes before you sign off on the manuscript.
As Chuck Palahniuk so succinctly put it: “We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.”
I’m so excited about “The Darkness Between the Stars,” and want to share the cover with you:
